Not a white noise machine at all, but a genuinely useful bedside companion to one: the Groegg2 glows a different colour depending on room temperature (blue for too cold, green for the recommended 16-20°C range, amber for too warm), which matters directly for safer-sleep guidance given overheating is a recognised risk factor.
It doesn't compete directly with a white noise machine like the VAVA Sleep Soother — most parents run the two together, checking the Groegg's colour when they check on their baby rather than relying on it as a sound source at all.
The main limitation is that it measures room temperature only, not the baby's own temperature, and a room reading green doesn't guarantee correct baby clothing or tog rating for the sleeping bag being used — it's one input into safer-sleep decisions, not a complete solution on its own.
