Dreamgenii

Pregnancy, Support and Feeding Pillow

7.4/10 overall

£39.99

A midwife-recommended pillow shaped to support the bump, back and knees, encouraging optimal left-side sleeping.

The shaped design does something a generic body pillow does not: it wedges between your knees and under your bump simultaneously, in a way that naturally encourages left-side sleeping, which is the position most consistently recommended in later pregnancy for optimal blood flow. That is the whole reason midwives keep recommending this one specifically over a plain long pillow — the shape does the positioning work for you rather than requiring you to consciously hold a position all night, which is genuinely hard to do once you are asleep.

Against the Theraline pillow in this category, the comparison comes down to size and versatility. Dreamgenii is deliberately more compact — it supports bump, back and knees without taking over the whole bed, which matters if you share a bed and do not want to banish your partner to the edge. Theraline is a full-length, whole-body pillow that offers more complete support but is considerably bigger and heavier, and it doubles as a feeding pillow after birth in a way Dreamgenii does not. If bed space is a constraint, or you mainly need targeted bump/back/knee support rather than whole-body support, Dreamgenii is the more practical of the two.

This is a strong fit for anyone who wants targeted positioning support without a pillow that dominates the bed, and for anyone who has been specifically advised to prioritise left-side sleeping and wants a physical nudge to actually maintain it through the night. If you want a pillow that also becomes a feeding pillow after birth, or need to support your entire body rather than specific pressure points, the larger Theraline may serve you better despite its bulk.

The trade-off for that compactness is flexibility of use: this is a specific shape designed for a specific sleeping position, not a general-purpose pillow you can reposition freely. If you move around a lot in the night — which many people do, particularly in the third trimester when getting comfortable at all is a challenge — repositioning a shaped pillow each time you shift is a bit more of a faff than adjusting a long, mouldable one.

What we liked

  • Shape actively encourages recommended left-side sleeping
  • Compact enough not to dominate a shared bed
  • Midwife-recommended, purpose-built design

Where it falls short

  • Fixed shape is less flexible if you move around at night
  • Doesn't double as a feeding pillow after birth
  • Less whole-body support than a full-length pillow
