Elevit's formula covers the core nutrients NHS guidance highlights for pregnancy — folic acid, vitamin D and iron among them — in a single once-daily tablet, positioning it as a straightforward like-for-like alternative to Pregnacare Original already in this category. The tablet is on the larger side, which is worth knowing if you already struggle with tablet-swallowing during early pregnancy nausea.

Against Seven Seas' omega-3-inclusive option, Elevit doesn't include DHA in the core tablet, so if omega-3 support matters to you, you'd need a separate fish oil or algae-based supplement alongside it. Where Elevit tends to edge ahead is iron content, which can matter more in later pregnancy as iron needs increase — worth checking with your midwife if you're already taking a separate iron supplement, since doubling up isn't necessary or recommended.

What we liked

  • Comprehensive core nutrient coverage in one tablet
  • Higher iron content than some competitors
  • Widely stocked in UK pharmacies and supermarkets

Where it falls short

  • Large tablet size can be hard to swallow with nausea
  • No DHA/omega-3 included
  • Iron content may need midwife check if already supplementing
